Dear Associates and Friends,
When Teresa said she would be sending you information about who our new Superior is, neither one of us ever thought that the name of the person would be "Sister Teresa Marie". For most of Tuesday, June 24 (the election was in the morning) we were in shock. She was installed during Evensong that evening. In the next five days she spent most of her time listening to people and getting the lay of the land, so to speak, regarding her new job as well as dealing with an unprecedented number of emergencies. There is much to learn, but there are some good people ready to help. We have to add that the Community is elated. Her title continues to be Sister Teresa.

The two of us returned to Eureka on Monday, June 30th. Teresa will stay in Eureka until the new rector of Christ Church arrives on September 7 then she will return to Cincinnati.

Life in California will carry on, but Teresa will leave a big hole, so keep Alice in your prayers too. But we are very pleased to announce that Sister Diana Dorothea Doncaster will join Sister. Alice in the west coast ministry in October. Diana is the Quarterly editor, an accomplished teacher, preacher and retreat leader. She is a native Californian and her mother lives in Sutter Creek so needless to say she is delighted to be returning to California!

Please keep us all in your prayers as we begin these new adventures in ministry.

In Christ,
Sister Alice and Sister Teresa

The Community of the Transfiguration is a religious community for women in the Episcopal Church with headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since 1980 Sister Alice Lorraine Reid and Sister Teresa Marie Martin have been living and working in the Diocese of Northern California. Their ministry is primarily in the area of spirituality and they travel widely conducting workshops and retreats in addition to working with local parishes and diocesan organizations.

The Sisters’ home in Eureka provides the opportunity for hospitality to those who may wish some time for quiet, a personal retreat, spiritual direction or just a friendly visit. Guests are welcome to join the Sisters in their daily practice of prayer and community life which is structured around the four daily offices from the Book of Common Prayer, intercession and meditation.

The Sisters own interests and experience have enabled them to develop many topics related to one’s relationship with God, neighbor and self. They are available to lead programs, retreats, workshops and quiet days in local congregations.
